With Signing Day approaching Feb. 2, a large number of Carolina Forest football players are getting some serious looks.
As of this posting, five players are likely to sign letters of intent with a sixth player possibly signing as well. It’s the most amount of potential football signings Carolina Forest has had for as long as anyone can remember.
“The most we’ve had is three,” said CFHS coach Drew Hummel. “If we can get five signed, we’ll be doing really good.”
Leading the list of prospects is running back Mark Timmons, who rushed for 1,349 yards in 2010. At least five schools are courting the tailback, Hummel said.
Other players gaining attention include: Zach Beaty (North Greenville, Greensboro), Uriah Deutsch (N.C. Wesleyan, Greensboro, UVA at Wise, Methodist, and Hardin Simmons), Alex Flucker (Greensboro) and Shawn Surujnauth (Sacramento City College).
Hummel said Chris Nwanegwo has also garnered some looks from Methodist College.
