As unrest continues in the Middle East, gas prices are galloping upward at a pace not seen since summer 2009.
With pump prices zooming well above $3 a gallon, one website is keeping track of deals on gas prices.
The cheapest gas in Horry County, according to www.myrtlebeachgasprices.com, can be found at the Time Saver at 1730 Church Street in Conway, where the price as of this posting was $2.91 a gallon for regular gas.
Closer to Carolina Forest, gas was $2.97 a gallon at the Costco on Seaboard Street. The lowest pump price within the Carolina Forest area was at Forestbrook Grocery ($3.02).
As of about 9:30 a.m. Thursday morning, a glitch in the pumps at the Scotchman in the Carolina Forest Kroger yielded a price of $2.47 a gallon for premium gas, although regular gas was $3.19 a gallon.
The Myrtle Beach average is currently $3.16 a gallon for regular, according to the website.
Most pump prices in Carolina Forest are at $3.29 a gallon. At least one station informed us another increase to $3.37 a gallon was likely later in the afternoon.
